Instructor CERTIFICATION STANDARDS FOR SCHOOLS

Only Association schools can organize instructor clinics for the purpose of evaluation and certification. An Association Instructor Evaluator (IE) will be appointed at the sole discretion of the Association to conduct the clinic and evaluation.  The IE appointed will not have any interest, or normally work in another capacity, with the organizing school. To prevent duplication of dates, schools should check this website. Dates will be posted on a first come, first served basis.

School Requirements

Prior to start date of the clinic, it is the sole responsibility of the school to ensure the instructor candidate has completed all the prerequisites (see evaluation prerequisites for the applicable instructor level) and is ready to be evaluated. This information will be complied in each candidate's file with a declaration from the school, that all prerequisites have been met; the file will be passed to the IE on the clinic start date. The candidates' personal files will then become the sole property of the Association. Under no circumstances will an IE be requested to accept a candidate who has incomplete prerequisites, or be expected to deal with any more than one certification level per clinic.

The School is solely responsible for providing a vessel equipped for cruising and a classroom (either onsite, or within reasonable distance to the vessel).

The vessel will comply with:

  • All legal requirements.
  • The additional equipment listed in the Association Standards list for the level of instructor evaluation being offered.

The classroom will provide:

    • Required projection equipment.
    • White Board.
    • Flip chart and easel.
    • Enough room to provide proper examination facilities.
