The Day Skipper course is taken in tidal waters and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly.
The pre requisites for the Day Skipper are the Canadian Recreational Yachting Association Competent Crew Shore and Practical Component with 20 hours experience on the water.

On completion and once the course is registered the student is certified as a skipper of a live aboard vessel to be responsible for the safely of the crew while day sailing in familiar waters during daylight in moderate wind and sea conditions using basic navigation skills

This can be completed by at home study by working through the Day Skipper Manual and completing the exercises at the end of each module.
The minimum time required is 20 hours.
20 hours on the water if the shore based component is completed or 40 hours on the water to complete both Shore based and ‘on the water” practical.
